What are some reasons why artists make art?
Artists make art for lots of different reasons, for example for expression. Artist may want to express an emotion they are feeling, or just show the world what they can do. Artists may also make art in order to inspire new people to create art, and make the world a more beautiful place. Also, artists may create art just for fun, as they enjoy making art, and would like other people to enjoy it as much as they do. So artists may want to inspire other people, express themselves, or just have fun, and that is why artists create art. | This art piece reflects my response as to why people create art, because I made this piece in order to express my feelings. My feeling was that people are destroying beautiful places on earth (like Africa) and that needs to stop. |
What is artistic style?
Artistic style is the manner in which a specific artist creates his/her art. There are many forms of painting, and those are all sorts of styles. An example of this is cubism, a style of art used by certain artists, such as Georges Braque. The way in which he created his art was his style, and each different artist has their own unique style in which they create art. Some artists prefer straight lines and dull colors, while others prefer curved and abstract lines and vibrant colors. Therefore, artistic style is the specific way an artist creates art, and each artist has a unique style that expresses the way they think. | This piece represents my response about artistic style, as this piece was made using the style cubism, which uses abstract lines in order to create art. |
- If you were to come up with another unit such as “Artist Collaborate” or “Artist Solve Problems,” what would your unit be called and how would it apply to the class?
If i was to create another unit for art class, I would call it "Artist Memories". I would call it that because I would have all of the students think about something they did in the past, and then draw it. This would tie into art class, as it would teach the students how to draw without observing something. Then in the next unit, the students would learn how to draw by observing. We may have done something like this in class, but I like the idea of calling it "Artist Memories" as it would help the students by making it easier to think of something to draw, and it would test their memories as they would have to draw completely from their memories. | This piece represents my response because when making this piece, I had a picture of the car to help me draw it. Without this picture, I would have no idea where to shade, and how detailed the front of the car was, so developing the skill of drawing without reference is very important to an artist's skills. |
